Parents United: For All Kids Episode 2

Parents United is a new digital storytelling project sharing the stories of parents across North Carolina who chose to fight for their kids, their schools, and their communities. From Black families demanding affirming schools, to Latinx parents fighting for welcoming classrooms, to working-class parents organizing for fully funded public education – these stories remind us what’s possible when ordinary people come together and lead.

In this second episode of Parents United we meet Ingrid — a proud Guilford County Schools graduate and mom of two kids ages 11 (5th grade) and 7 (2nd grade) in Greensboro, NC.

Ingrid has seen firsthand what happens when the North Carolina General Assembly refuses to fully fund our public schools: overcrowded classrooms, overworked educators, and students forced to do more with less.

But Ingrid knows another North Carolina is possible.

She believes every child deserves a safe, high-quality public school, no matter their race, zip code, or family income. That’s why she organizes with Guilford For All to bring more parents, caregivers, and community members into the fight for the fully funded public schools FOR ALL KIDS.

Greedy politicians in Raleigh are counting on us to stay divided and silent. But when parents and communities unite across race, place, and background, we have the power to win schools that work for all of us.

Join Ingrid and parents across North Carolina who are standing together for fully funded public schools — because All Kids deserves a great public school, and together we can make that vision a reality.
