In this first edition we meet Jordyn Z — a mom of two in Wilmington, NC who knows firsthand what happens when public schools are forced to do more with less. After fighting to get her youngest daughter the support she needed, Jordyn made the difficult decision to begin homeschooling. Not because the teachers didn’t care — but because even caring teachers can’t fill the gaps created by years of underfunding and neglect by greedy politicians who would rather protect billionaire tax breaks than deliver on the promise of a sound education for every child.
Jordyn believes her daughter could thrive in a fully funded public school. Every child could.
Instead of staying silent, she got organized. Today, she’s a parent leader with New Hanover For All working to bring more parents into the fight for the schools our kids deserve. Because when parents organize across race and background, we can change North Carolina.
